Walls, a Grip Story

'Where do you want it,' he asked.

Simple question, but an essential one.  Staging these massive trailers full of walls from sets is something of an art.  Optimization of space is essential for grips, as they manage and maneuver incredible loads of enormous sets that exist on stages in a studio.  While most people are getting up, drinking coffee, and reading the morning paper - perhaps even watching the news, these guys are already loading trailers and getting them ready for storage.  Within the storage space, it's important for them to organize each wall in such a way so that they can be accessible again.

The way it works isn't democratic.  It's like the Army.  No time for talking.  It's work, and it has to be quick, and intuitive.  But at the end of the day, there's mutual respect.

Plain and simple, there are guys specifically trained to know how to move huge walls in and out of trailers, trucks, warehouses, and stages.  Without them, movies as you know them to be wouldn't exist.
